How we work
Most of our work comes from people who have been let down elsewhere: a quote that never arrived, a bathroom left half-finished while a tiler was chased, a drain cleared four times without anyone ever looking at why it kept blocking. We built the business around removing those failures rather than out-pricing anyone.
That means one team from start to finish, a written price before work begins, and a habit of diagnosing properly instead of clearing a symptom. If a repeat blockage needs a camera survey to settle the argument, we will say so. If a big combi boiler will not work on your mains flow, we will measure it and tell you before you spend the money.
Being local matters practically, not just sentimentally. We know which villages freeze first, which streets still have imperial copper, where the mains pressure drops off, and which properties are on septic systems rather than mains drainage. That knowledge shortens diagnosis on nearly every call.

S.R. Gardiner Ltd was established in 2005 as a specialist main contractor providing high-end construction services to Lanark and the surrounding area. Over the past two decades it has grown from a small building firm into a company with its own office management and site teams, delivering projects across North and South Lanarkshire from the same Caldwellside base we work from.
Caldwellside Plumbing was formed to bring the plumbing, heating, drainage and bathroom side of that work in-house. On a Gardiner extension or renovation, the first and second fix plumbing, the heating design and the bathroom installation are ours. On a standalone plumbing job for a homeowner in Lanark, Carluke or Biggar, you get the same team and the same site standards that a full construction project would receive.
Practically, that matters when work crosses trades. Moving a bathroom to the other side of the house, opening a wall for a new soil stack, forming a wet room floor, taking a heating system into a loft conversion or making good after a leak are all jobs where a plumber alone gets stuck. We have joiners, plasterers, tilers, roofers and bricklayers in the same business, so the job is finished rather than handed over.
